Professional bird protection with high-tenacity Leno netting
The most effective and most durable bird protection on the market is our high-tenacity leno HDPE monofilament netting. It completely excludes starlings, thrushes, blackbirds, sparrows and pigeons, and it protects against hail as well. The leno weave is significantly stronger and more durable than the conventional knotless extruded bird net (knotless extruded HDPE), standing up far better to wind loading and severe weather.
Available in two aperture variants (2.6 × 3 mm and 5 × 4 mm) with weights of 50-76 g/m² and UV stabilisation for maximum outdoor durability. Custom-made with perimeter reinforcements. In-house production with fast delivery throughout Spain and export to any country. We also offer specific knotless extruded bird netting — knotless extruded HDPE, 15-25 g/m² — on request.

Advantages of bird protection with leno netting
Double protection
A single net protects against hail and birds at the same time. Savings on material and installation.
Greater strength
The leno HDPE monofilament weave is stronger than conventional bird netting. It withstands wind, snow and hail without deforming.
Greater durability
Long service life thanks to high-resistance UV stabilisation. Ask about the estimated durability for your geographical area.
Complete bird exclusion
The 2.6 × 3 mm or 5 × 4 mm mesh aperture keeps starlings, thrushes, blackbirds, sparrows and pigeons out.
Optical transparency
High light transmission plus free passage of water and air. It maintains an optimal microclimate without affecting photosynthesis or ripening.
Custom manufacturing
Made to your dimensions with perimeter reinforcements. Spanish manufacturer with in-house production.
Ideal for organic farming
100% physical protection with no chemical residues. Compatible with certified organic farming operations and integrated production protocols.

Bird netting protection by crop
Vineyard
Protection of table and wine grapes against birds and hail simultaneously. A single net, double protection during ripening.
Cherry
Cherry is one of the fruits most attacked by birds. Leno anti-hail netting protects against birds and hail in a single system.
Berries
Blueberries, raspberries and blackberries are highly attractive to blackbirds and sparrows. Leno anti-hail netting offers lasting protection season after season.
Olive grove
In table-olive groves, starlings cause significant losses during ripening.
Stone fruit
Peach, nectarine and apricot protected against birds and hail with a single net.
Citrus
In citrus plantations, leno anti-hail netting protects against birds without affecting the crop's ventilation or light levels.
Kiwi
Birds attack kiwi during ripening. Leno anti-hail netting over the support structure protects against birds and hail.
Sunflower
Sunflower is a classic target for grain-eating birds. Leno anti-hail netting is the most resistant and durable physical barrier.
Birds devour up to 30% of your harvest
Starlings, thrushes, blackbirds and sparrows cause devastating losses in vineyards, cherries, berries and olive groves. Deterrent methods (gas cannons, scarecrows, reflective tape) lose effectiveness within a few weeks.
In table-grape vineyards, bird losses can reach 30% of production. Pecked fruit loses all its value and can encourage fungal infections.
Deterrent methods lose effectiveness quickly. Only a physical barrier offers continuous protection as long as it is correctly installed and in good condition.
Frequently asked questions about bird protection
Does anti-hail netting work as bird netting?
Yes. Textil Villa de Pego's leno HDPE monofilament anti-hail netting has a mesh aperture of 2.6 × 3 mm or 5 × 4 mm, enough to keep out starlings, thrushes, blackbirds, sparrows and pigeons. It also offers greater strength and durability than conventional bird netting.
Why recommend anti-hail netting instead of conventional bird netting?
Leno anti-hail netting is stronger (50-76 g/m² vs 15-25 g/m²), more durable and offers double protection against birds and hail. The cost per season is lower thanks to its longer service life.
Do you offer a dedicated bird netting?
Yes, we offer knotless extruded bird netting (knotless extruded HDPE), ultra-light at 15-25 g/m² with a 19-25 mm aperture, on request. For most operations we recommend leno netting for its greater strength and dual bird + hail function.
Does bird netting harm the birds?
No. Both anti-hail and bird netting are passive physical barriers that prevent access without harming the birds. Compatible with European wildlife protection legislation.
