Hail netting for orchards
We protect apple, pear, cherry and stone-fruit crops from hail. We manufacture the net to size; it is fitted on your existing structure.

EU
Hail marks fruit in seconds: it strikes, bruises and opens wounds that downgrade commercial size and let rot set in. Hail netting is a physical barrier that cushions the impact of hailstones while letting through the rain, air and light the tree needs. At Textil Villa de Pego we have manufactured the mesh to your plot's dimensions since 1949; you fit it on your own post-and-cable structure. We supply the net, not the structure.
Advantages for your crop
A barrier against hail
Cushions the impact of hailstones on apple, pear, cherry and stone fruit, reducing the bruising and wounds that downgrade size and cause storage losses.
Made to measure
We cut and make up the net to your orchard's dimensions, in black or crystal. We supply the mesh; it is placed on your existing post-and-cable structure.
UV-stabilised
Treated against ultraviolet radiation to last season after season under the Mediterranean sun, keeping the mesh's strength and geometry.
Less sunburn and wind rub
The net's light shading limits sunburn on the most exposed fruit and reduces wind rub, improving skin finish on sensitive varieties.
How it is fitted
Hail netting is drawn over the orchard structure — a pitched single-row 'roof' over each row, or a flat full cover — and fixed with PET monofilament thread (Agropet®) and accessories that do not cut the fabric. The mesh grid is calculated to stop the stone without overloading the structure or blocking the rain and pollinators. It is deployed before the hail risk and can be gathered in during dormancy. We manufacture rolls and panels to the size of your rows and headlands, reinforced at the anchor points.
Frequently asked questions
Do you install the net?
No. We manufacture and supply the net made to measure; fitting it on your post-and-cable structure is done by you or your trusted installer. We advise on sizing, net type and the fixing system.
Do you also sell the post-and-cable structure?
No. We sell the fabric (the net). The supporting structure — posts, cables, anchors — is provided by the grower; our net adapts to the structure you already have or the one your installer fits.
Which fruit crops is it for?
For pome fruit (apple, pear) and stone fruit (cherry, apricot, plum, peach), among others. We recommend the configuration and mesh gauge according to the crop and the typical hailstone size in your area.
Is it made to measure, and in which colours?
Yes. We cut and make it up to your plot's dimensions. Available in black and in crystal (transparent); crystal shades less and is common where maximising light on the fruit matters.
Other applications
We manufacture made-to-measure netting for many other crops and uses.
