The chestnut is a living fruit that breathes and releases moisture after harvest: packed in a closed bag, it condenses, ferments and mould appears within days. At Textil Villa de Pego we make mesh bags for chestnuts that ventilate on every face, draw off moisture and extend the fruit's shelf life. A Spanish manufacturer since 1949, with an ISO 9001 certified quality system, we produce each bag to measure for the grade, weight and image of your brand.

Total ventilation against mould

The open mesh structure lets air circulate through the whole bag, drawing off the moisture the freshly harvested chestnut gives off. Internal condensation, fermentation and the appearance of fungus during storage and transport are avoided.

Strength for the fruit's weight

HDPE monofilament offers a firm, high-tenacity mesh with good resistance to abrasion and tearing. It takes the weight of the chestnut, warehouse handling, pallet stacking and repeated loading and unloading without giving way.

The produce on view

The mesh shows the colour, grade and condition of the chestnut without opening the pack. The buyer judges the fruit at a glance on the shelf or at the wholesale market, speeding the sale and reinforcing confidence in the goods.

Made to measure and branded

We make the bag in the size, capacity and colour you need, with various closure and mouth systems. We add print and brand personalisation, logo or traceability label so your chestnut reaches the end customer identified.

Why choose mesh bags?

For the chestnut, mesh is not an aesthetic choice but one of preservation. A fruit that keeps breathing needs breathable packaging that lets moisture and residual heat out; a closed cloth or plastic bag traps that vapour, causes condensation and speeds the appearance of mould and loss of goods. Ventilated mesh keeps the chestnut dry, allows uniform drying, withstands pallet stacking without crushing the fruit and shows the produce and its colour without opening the bag. It is the packaging that combines aeration, strength and presentation in a single format.

Recommended bag

Monofilament Mesh Bag

For chestnuts we recommend the monofilament bag: its high-tenacity HDPE yarn forms a firm mesh, highly resistant to abrasion and tearing, ideal for a heavy fruit handled and stacked repeatedly, and its open weave guarantees the constant ventilation that prevents moisture and mould.

Frequently asked questions

Why use mesh bags for chestnuts rather than a closed bag?

Because the chestnut keeps breathing and releasing moisture after harvest. A closed bag traps that vapour, condenses and encourages fermentation and mould. Mesh ventilates the fruit on every face, keeps it dry and extends its preservation in warehouse, transport and at the point of sale.

What bag sizes and capacities do you make for chestnuts?

We work to measure: we adjust the length, width and capacity of the bag to the grade and weight per pack your farm or warehouse handles, with various mouth and closure systems. Tell us your usual format and we will prepare a proposal tailored to your operation.

Can the bags be personalised with our brand?

Yes. We offer printing and personalisation with your logo, corporate colours and traceability or labelling data. As a Spanish manufacturer since 1949 with ISO 9001 quality, we produce the complete bag to your specifications and brand image.
